The Fall Classic of Mahoning Valley auto shows, the 3rd Annual Joshua Walker Benefit Car Cruise will held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2001 at Emmanuel Ministries, 6512 Kirk Road in Canfield, Ohio. Four-year-old Joshua Walker of Boardman, Ohio, suffers from a rare and debilitating disease called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, a painful disease that attacks the brain causing the loss of all muscle control. There is currently no cure and the prognosis is death in three to six years. The benefit car show is being held to help raise money for the enormous medical bills that have already incurred and which will continue as time goes on. Unfortunately the family's insurance coverage does not pay for all of the necessary treatment or medical supplies. Since the disease eliminates all muscle control all muscle control from the body, simple tasks such as walking, talking, chewing and swallowing are impossible. For the past two years Joshua has been nourished through a feeding tube and he can neither walk nor talk. A trust fund (#03-30376-4) has been established at Sky Bank for all financial contributions. Car show participants will vie for door prizes and trophies, and each will receive a commemorative dash plaque. Other spectator features include hay rides, clowns, 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, bake sale, great music and great food!
