last year for that body style. The Headlamps were now stacked vertically
behind the fender grilles, which open when the lights were turned on. Tail
lights were housed in the bumper bar, giving a cleaner rear deck.

Powertrain Optons: Turbin 400 was Standard on
the Series 4700.
Engine 401ci V8, 340hp at 4400rpm. Bore and stroke: 4.3125 x 3.64
inches. Compression ration: 10.25 to 1. Five Main bearings. Hydraulic
lifters. Four-barrel carburetor.
The GS Option was available for the 65 Riviera,. It included a 360hp Super
Wildcat V8 with dual four barrel carburetors, large diameter dual exhausts,
positive traction diff, and bright metal engine accents including a larger
plated air cleaner and polished ribbed valve covers. Exterior id. was
provided by the "GS" and GS full wheel covers.
Standard Equipment: Super turbine transmission,
power steering, power brakes, two-speed electric wipers with wash, backup
lights, glare-proof rear view mirror, parking brake signal light, saftey
bumper, map light, electric clock, tilt steering wheel, automatic truck
light, license plate frames, upper and lower instrument panel safety pads,
full carpet, Tack, console mounted gear select, black vinyl covered instrument panel and idividual front bucket seats.
Other Options 425ci Engine with or without the dual carbs. Air
Conditioning, Crusie, Wire Wheel covers, Cloth/Vinyl, Power antenna w/
AM-FM radio, Remote mirrors, Tinted Glass, four note horn, Tach, Automactic
trunk release, cruise, Cornering lights. Rear door handles were part of
the custom interior option. A rear folding arm rest was available. purse
hook (located on the glove box door). Power vent windows, A four way power
seat (driver only).
*Notes: The instrument controls were moved to the consol in '64
& '65 from being mounted underneath the dash pad on the '63. Map light
above the glove box. Padded vinyl covering below the glove box. the rear
axle shaft size was reduced for 1965 from 1963 & 1964. Wheel rims require
an insert when using '63 or '64 rims on a '65. The Transmission shift
quantrant was altered for '65. L1, L2 and Dr were listed separately. A
faster ratio steering box was also available as an option with or without
the duel carbs. The famous "Buick Road Wheels" were first offered by the
factory to Riviera buyers in 1965 ( these road wheels were originally
offered on the 1964 Wildcat but '64 Riv owners went to the dealers and
demanded them for their cars so the factory added them to the '65 options
list).
